The PRRC was constructed in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). It was officially opened on 5th January 2009 to provide a wider range of services with a production capacity of 100 various devices per month for patients coming from the ten states of South Sudan as well as the neighbouring countries such as Uganda and Sudan.

The devices produced by the PRRC include: prostheses, orthoses, crutches, walking frames, wheelchairs, tricycles and sports wheelchairs.

Other services include physiotherapy, counselling and medical treatment. The centre has the capacity to accommodate 60 inpatients at a time, in addition to the outpatients around and outskirts of Juba city.

In addition to the Juba PRRC there is a Rehabilitation Centre in Rumbek, Lakes State and a monthly clinic in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal State.

Between 2009 up to end of May 2014 over 6,000 patients have benefitted from the various services from the PRRC and Rumbek.
