The Ministry is in the process of building the Rejaf Educational Centre for the Blind and Deaf (RECBD).
The new centre is located seven miles across the Nile Bridge on the right hand side on Juba Torit/Nimule road. It will be the only national centre for the education of the children with Visual and hearing impairments. When completed it will have the capacity to accommodate 350 students when completed.
Phase one of construction is completed however a lack of funds due to austerity measures means that the phase two construction has yet to be completed.
The Ministry of Gender currently works in cooperation with the Central Equatoria school for the blind and deaf in Buluk, Juba. The school has graduated 10 university students. Another 8 joined the university. 60 enrolled in the school and 45 integrated in the other schools for the year 2014.
The school has 23 teachers out of which 15 have visual impairments and there are 4 social workers with visual impairments employed in the school.
